I've washed these four times already and the fabric just gets softer, no pilling at all. The raw hem looks intentionally unfinished in a good way, and the drawstring actually stays tied instead of slipping loose mid-walk.

The 8.5-inch rise hits exactly where I wanted, and the 2-inch inseam gives that nice, barely-there coverage without riding up. I’ve washed them three times already and the raw hem hasn’t frayed or curled, which is usually my biggest gripe with shorts like these.
