The cotton is actually soft, not that stiff kind that digs into your head after an hour. The burgundy is a nice deep shade too, goes with way more of my stuff than I expected.

Wore this burgundy headband all day at work and forgot it was even on. The cotton doesn't dig into my head behind the ears like my old plastic ones did, and the color goes with way more outfits than I expected.
